Pori Offshore Wind Hub and Tahkoluoto Offshore sign a letter of intent on cooperation

    Bulletin22.01.2025

The City of Pori, Port of Pori Ltd and Tahkoluoto Offshore Ltd, which is planning the expansion of Tahkoluoto Offshore Wind Farm, are signing a letter of intent for the development of the Pori Offshore Wind Hub project.

The cooperation defines in more detail the use of Pori Offshore Wind Hub as the primary logistics and pre-installation centre for the Tahkoluoto Offshore Wind Farm expansion project. The areas will also be developed to make their infrastructure meet the needs of the extension project. The letter of intent provides a clear two-year window for implementing the necessary investments in the port area.

The Tahkoluoto Offshore Wind Farm expansion project is being planned by Tahkoluoto Offshore Oy, and it comprises 40 turbines of approximately 15–20 megawatts. The estimated construction schedule for the extension project is 2027–2029.

“The agreement emphasises joint development: we share information that supports the planning and implementation of the port infrastructure and logistics. Resource optimisation is also essential: through cooperation, we ensure that all the resources and functions required for implementing the project are available,” says Lauri Kilkku, Head of Administration at the City of Pori.

“Pori Offshore Wind Hub is a significant advantage for the Tahkoluoto Offshore Wind Farm extension project. It is exceptional that the logistics centre is located so close to the construction site of the offshore wind farm. The project supports the construction of cost-efficient solutions and market-based offshore wind power,” says Toni Sulameri, CEO of Tahkoluoto Offshore Oy.

Pori Offshore Wind Hub offers a world-class operating environment for wind power producers and the companies serving them. The centre focuses on pre-installation, assembly and maintenance services for power plants, and its operating area covers the entire Bothnian Sea, both in Finnish and in Swedish waters.
